on Duty

It was 10 o'clock in the morning, i nervously entered into one of the highest building in this town. After had a security check and wrote down my name on the guess list, I let my eyes looked around into the whole lobby, searching for some information that I needed until finally caught a black stainless board which gave me a clearly information "Syndication Bank Presentation on 3rd Fl". That's it!

I moved myself toward to the lift, but initiatively slowed down my step in order to saw my appearance at a glance on the big mirror I'm passing by. I put all of my confident on an off white blouse, a brown pencil skirt plus blazer combined with 5 cm heels. So bankers look a like anyway.

Since it was not my first time for attending that kind of occasion, thus I should not be nervous, right? But wait, on the previous one, I was attended it with two other seniors, while on that day I was alone. It was just me myself who represented my company (my manager was having business trip out of the town while my leader head was having another lunch meeting on that day).

The participants on that occasion were mainly offshore bankers came from Singapore and Hong Kong branches, while the onshore bankers with the indigenous face like me was not really much. And I HAVE TO MAKE A COURTESY CONVERSATION AND GET MINGLE WITH THEM ALL. *Dear God, where are You? I'm really suck on this 'basa-basi' thing!*

Well, the show must go on..

I introduced myself to whosoever they are, tried to get into the conversation they had, and spread out my business card. This mingle session was taken almost one hour before finally entering the major session, The Syndication Bank Presentation itself that taken for another one hour onward.

Finished with those ceremonial, I prepared myself to take a leave when suddenly a mature-western face-man came by and say 'Hi' to me. He hit me with the big Q which commonly asked on this syndication event: "Would your company join on this syndication?" And the only diplomatic answer that I had was: "Well Sir, I am afraid that I couldn't give you an answer right now since I have to discuss it first with my team and our credit committee, but I'll return to you as soonest for our commitment advice." "Yes sure. Just let me know if you have any further queries." He said.

He shake my hand, say goodbye and just let me get some fresh air outside.

cheers,
